St. Augustine Academy After School

St. Augustine Academy (SAA), located in Norristown, PA, is an independent tuition-free, after-school program for girls in grades two, three and four.  SAA’s mission is to supplement classroom learning by offering academic support and enrichment through exposure to the arts, while emphasizing life skills and building self-esteem.  They do this by providing assistance with homework and by encouraging leadership skills with a focus on manners, respect, and taking responsibility – all in a stable, cooperative and supportive environment.

SAA welcome volunteers on Monday and/or Wednesday or Thursday afternoons between 3pm-6pm during the school year. To work with children, SAA asks that all volunteers secure required clearances and attend a short orientation.

The Days of the Commune

Slought (‘Sl-aw-t’) is a non-profit organization that engages the public in dialogue about cultural and socio-political change in Philadelphia, the world, and the cloud. We are a new form of institution that builds relationships and social trust through collaboration and the exchange of ideas. For over a decade, we have worked with artists, communities, and institutions worldwide to develop projects that encourage inclusiveness, advocacy, and the sharing of knowledge.

Slought has partnered with Bryn Mawr in the past. Slought offers unpaid internships for undergraduate students interested in supplementing their academic work with an intensive and collaborative experience.
