Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens is a folk art environment, gallery space, and nonprofit organization that showcases the work of mosaicist Isaiah Zagar. Located at the site of Zagar’s largest public mosaic installation, the Magic Gardens includes a fully mosaiced indoor gallery and a massive outdoor labyrinthine mosaic sculpture.
You can support Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens by donating your time and energy. PMG is most interested in volunteers who can contribute their time on a regular basis, such as weekly, bi-monthly or monthly. They also hire Garden Guides.
Volunteer and internship opportunities include:
- Visitor Services – Greet and educate visitors about Isaiah Zagar’s techniques and the history of the Magic Gardens
- Grounds and Garden Maintenance – Assist with daily operations of the Gardens; may include tending the flower garden, organizing the office, and some light cleaning.
- Special Events – Set up and break down of concerts, fundraisers, film screenings, and more.
- Writing and Research
- Photography and Graphic Design
Volunteers can be as involved as they want to be at Magic Gardens; they are open to ideas and eager to meet you! All volunteers must schedule a time to meet with PMG staff prior to their first volunteer shift. Interested volunteers should email esmith@phillymagicgardens.org with their interests and background.
