The Centre Theater has been serving the greater Norristown area as the anchor of the Norristown Arts Hill since 1996. The facility is controlled by The Greater Norristown Society for the Arts. It has been home to Iron Age Theatre, Theatre Horizon, VOX, Vagabond Acting Troupe, Renaissance Puppet Company, Walla Fest and Open Words. The Centre Theater offers a variety of educational programs like KIDS: The Heart of the Arts, The Centre Theater Music School, and daytime acting classes.

The Wilma Theater exists to present theater as an art form, engaging artists and audiences in an adventure of aesthetic philosophical reflection of the complexities of contemporary life. The theater’s mission is to produce thoughtful, well-crafted, productions of intelligent, daring plays that represent a range of voices, viewpoints, and production styles. Students can get involved through a variety of internships and fellowships or as volunteers.
Arden Theatre Company is dedicated to bringing to life great stories by great storytellers – on the stage, in the classroom and in the community. They produce a wide range of stories in a variety of styles: classic and contemporary, intimate and epic, fiction and nonfiction, musical and dramatic. They embrace stories for audiences of all ages and bring the same artistic quality to all their work.
Kids are celebrated at the Arden. They nurture curiosity, creativity and confidence through their educational programming. The Arden fosters connections between theatre and reading and promote literacy for young audiences. They reach thousands of students each year, introducing many of the region’s kids to theatre for the first time.
The Arden strives to be Philadelphia’s hometown theatre; they seek community partnerships and collaborations, make their work affordable and accessible, and train the next generation of theatre leaders, contributing to the region’s cultural landscape.
Internships can be arranged in one department or in multiple departments. They tend to require a commitment of 10 – 20 hours per week. Internship opportunities include:

Special Events Intern
Special Events intern will assist in the fundraising department two days per week. Individual should possess an eagerness to learn, attention to detail, and solid communication skills. Individual will have the opportunity to work alongside members of the Development department to assist in the planning and executing of donor cultivation events and the annual fundraising event, as well as other administrative tasks.
Production Department
Production Internships are available in stage management, lighting, sound, props, costuming, and scenic construction. Interns develop production skills by assisting in the build, rehearsal, technical rehearsal, and performance of our productions.

Art Sanctuary, founded in North Philadelphia, uses the power of black art to transform individuals, unite groups of people, and enrich, and draw inspiration from the inner city. The Asian Arts Initiative is a community-based arts center in Philadelphia that engages artists and everyday people to create art that explores the diverse experiences of Asian Americans, addresses our social context, and imagines and effects positive community change. We are working toward a just and joyous world where all people, regardless of their racial and class backgrounds, are able to view and create art that reflects their lives and concerns.
Created in response to community concerns about racial tension, the Asian Arts Initiative began programming in May 1993 with Philadelphia’s first-ever Asian American Arts Festival: “Live Traditions/Contemporary Issues” at the Painted Bride Art Center. The Asian Arts Initiative has since become a community arts center that offers performances, exhibitions, workshops, and training for artists, youth and adults who share our commitment to community-based arts.

The Painted Bride Art Center collaborates with emerging and established artists to create, produce and present innovative work that affirms the intrinsic value of all cultures and celebrates the transformative power of the arts.
The Bride is especially committed to Philadelphia-based artists and to linking them to community groups and issues. Leaps of Faith and Other Mistakes by Almanac Dance Circus Theatre
Headlong Dance Theater’s mission is to create and perform new and visionary works of dance theater that use the entire body including the voice, the face, and the mind; to create accessible dances that are relevant beyond traditional dance audiences; to bring audiences closer to dance by performing informally, in nontraditional venues, and for free; to develop and propagate training techniques that bridge dance and theater and empower performers to be co-creators; to provide mentoring and leadership in the local and national arts communities; and to dance our way into the blind spots of our strange times.

Volunteers and interns are accepted in the spring and summer. In the Fall, internships are provided only to students attending Headlong Performance Institute (HPI), a program accredited through Bryn Mawr. Lantern Theater Company is committed to an authentic and intimate exploration of the human spirit in their choice of classics, modern, and original works. They create an innovative and stimulating theatrical experience that evokes thoughtful reflection and discussion long after the play ends.

The Philadelphia Shakespeare Theatre was founded as The Red Heel Theatre in 1989, initially focusing on classic works of English theatre. In 1993, Carmen Khan became the Artistic Director of Red Heel and in 1996 focused the company’s efforts on the works of Shakespeare, renaming it The Philadelphia Shakespeare Festival. Since that time, The Festival has produced 30 plays, reached nearly 30,000 High School students and nearly 70,000 adult audience members. They now have several programs for adults and students including a lecture series featuring world-renowned Shakespeare Scholars, Shakespeare School Tour which also tours in schools, and a Classical Acting Academy providing early actors with intense classical training culminating in a free Shakespeare play for the public.
